Why did you major in English?

I loved to read.

Tell us about a skill you learned/developed as an English major that has helped you out in the "real world"

Learning to read and write complicated things goes without saying. But I think the most important thing I learned by reading is compassion. You constantly open yourself up to new experiences by studying and reading. The end result of all that is becoming more aware and understanding of those around you. It's one of those "real world" skills that nobody really talks about but has immeasurable worth.

What was the best English class you took at CUA and why?

Senior Seminar studying Yeats and Joyce. The experience of struggling through a work written in your own language for the sake of communicating something grander and larger than you might have ever imagined was the most rewarding and eye opening experience of college.

If you could give one piece of advice to current students, what would it be?

If you don't want to read it-read it. If you hate what you're reading-try to appreciate it. Every bit of knowledge is power. Find worth in every assignment, no matter how trivial or pointless it may seem.

Which text was your favorite to read while you were a student at CUA? In which class did you read it?

Jane Eyre in Intensive Narrative.

What’s next for you?

I will be attending Law school in the Fall. For now, I am trying to read as much as possible.
