Welcome to the Medieval European Drama in Translation homepage. The purpose of this site is to serve as a resource for teachers, students, actors, directors, theatre historians, and other interested readers by providing an infinitely expandable online bibliography of published translations of early European drama. I hope that the site will also serve as a catalyst to inspire other translators to continue the work of making early drama accessible to contemporary readers, and that it will help stimulate future comparative studies that reach beyond narrow linguistic and national boundaries. At first, the site will be restricted to English translations of medieval texts. In the future, translations and adaptations in other languages will be included as well.

To see the list of translations for any given language, simply click on the appropriate button in the column at left. You can use your browser's "back" key to return to this page.

Please send your comments and suggestions to the creator of the site, Steve Wright, Department of English, The Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.). I would especially welcome information regarding translations not yet included at this site.
